Lee Freedman's patience with Master of Design has worked wonders for the colt with a wonderful pedigree and the looks to match. A former $2.1 million dollar yearling from the 2007 Arrowfield Inglis Easter draft, the 4yo entire by Redoute's Choice won his 3rd race at his 5th career start in the $100,000 0-82 1200m at Moonee Valley on Friday night.
Jumping well from a good barrier, Dwayne Dunn took a hold of his horse and had him settled just in behind the speed. Peeled out into the running lane just after the school, it was clear to the Moonee Valley crowd that nothing was going to get close to the Freedman galloper as he towed Dwayne through the turn and quickened up the straight to win by 3.5 lengths in a time of 1min 10.86sec.
Lee Freedman surmised the colts progression "I had always felt he could gallop, but have always held him back due to his immaturity. His win tonight was off a win on the provincial circuit in a 0-68, so he has essentially jumped 3 classes and given them a galloping lesson."
"I certainly think he has got Stakes ability and I will give him a go in the Standish Handicap if I am happy with him in the following week."
MASTER OF DESIGN is a half-brother by Redoute’s Choice to South African Group One winner Suntagonal, his dam Urge to Merge, a full sister to four-time Group One winner Tracy’s Element, the dam of current star Typhoon Tracy.
