Off the back of her metro win at Sandown, Romneya went to Adelaide on Saturday and won a stakes race to catapult her value through the roof.
Jumping from barrier 1 in the 1350m Feltex Oaklands Plate, Dwayne Dunn settled the daughter of Red Ransom in the box seat and she smartly fell to sleep in the first 1/2 mile. With the field quickening into the straight, Benicio's little sister defied her size and bullied her rivals for running space. Quickening like a "good thing", Romneya resorted to her customary walloping of her opposition to win by a comfortable 2 lengths.
"It's not the size of the dog in the fight, its the size of the fight in the dog." said Anthony Freedman in response to Sam Kavanagh's taunting remarks about Romneya. Anthony went on to say "She just keeps stepping up to the mark and with the way that she keeps disposing of her opposition I would say that she will feature in the Spring and might even be a Guineas filly."
The Freedman's and Darley continue to carve a smart team with both of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's blue blooded fillies (Viennese & Romneya) winning a Stakes Race each at the end of their two year old campaign.
"There is no secret" said Lee "It's just hard work and patience and knowing when they are at their peak to strike at that level."
