Fast Talker (photo by Bruno Canatelli) won her second start in a tenacious fight under Jason Maskiel, with the exciting apprentice returning to scale with a bloody nose!
Tackling the 1400m for the first time in her career, the daughter of Fastnet Rock got a charmed run in behind the Corsten's tear away leader and Maskiel appeared unphased having received a "mouthful of mane" after "The Talker" shook her back and forth in the first 50 yards, catching the leading apprentice clean on the snout!
When asked for an effort in the straight, Fast Talker dug deep and fought tenaciously to beat off the challenges of the other six three year old fillies. That win took her earnings to over $100,000 despite being the winner of only two races! Admittedly she was the winner of the $50,000 maiden at Moonee Valley, has multiple Stakes places and has only ever been out of the first three once in 11 starts!!!!!!!!
"Her pre-race antics have little effect on the way she races" said Sam Pritchard-Gordon "She is as tough as they come and Lee is considering backing her up this coming Saturday in the Listed Bow Mistress stakes in Tasmania."
