The Original (pictured) finally turned a losing streak of 7 starts to a win at Geelong yesterday in the 0-72 1200m.
Shuffled back to the rail in the mid stages of the race, the inform Damian Oliver coerced the blinkered son of Dehere onto the pace as the field fanned out through the turn. Finding the lead with 200m to go, "Oli" was adament that The Original was not going to steal his treble from his grasp and worked in overdrive to get him to the line. Despite catching a glimpse of the winning post in the dying strides, The Original held off the lunge of Diplomatic Strike to take his 15 career start to 2 wins and 7 placings.
The Original's win took the number of winners trained from Markdel to 799.
