Promising colt Cheyenne Warrior became Anthony Freedman's fifth Stakes winner of the season - and his fourth with a juvenile - when he won the Listed $100,000 Gold Sovereign Stakes (1200m) at Mowbray in Launceston on Wednesday night.
The Not A Single Doubt colt, ridden by Daniel Moor (pictured), overcame a wide draw and a long pre-race delay to score his second win from as many starts.
The Stakes win was some compensation for missing out on the deleted Adelaide Magic Millions race, which was to have been the colt's target.
Cheyenne Warrior, a Sandown winner at his other start, was bought by Michael Freedman for $80,000 at the 2011 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale for Singapore-based Mr K.H. Neo. The colt is from the Iglesia mare, Miss Argyle.
Cheyenne Warrior, who came from barrier nine in the nine-horse field, was ridden aggressively by Moor to lead. He set a good tempo and held on for a narrow but decisive win.
