Studley Park joins the team

31st October, 2011

Exciting galloper Studley Park has been bought by stable clients of Anthony Freedman and will make his debut for the stable at Flemington on Melbourne Cup day.

The deal to buy Studley Park was completed after he was vetted at owner Lloyd Williams' Mt. Macedon property last Friday.

The horse will race in the famous pink and blue colours of Keith Biggs, who has been associated with many outstanding horses, including the Freedman-trained stars Doriemus, Serenade Rose and Danelagh. Also in the ownership is Keith's long-time Perth-based mate, Rod Russell (also a shareholder in Doriemus, Serenade Rose and Danelagh), fellow West Australian Elio Galante (of Plastered and Scenic Blast fame) and the ever-present John O'Neill.

"He will be entered for the (Group 1) Railway Stakes in Perth, but a trip will depend on how he performs on Tuesday," Freedman said.

"He's an exciting horse by Zabeel with a turn-of-foot, so there is a lot to look forward to with the horse in the next 12 months. He's a late-maturer, who has had only five starts, but he has won four of them in very good style."
