Freedman's gallopers set Reset alight

19th November, 2008

The excellent Sprinter-miler who went undefeated in five starts, two of them G1s and took the Australian Guineas from Starcraft, with Elvstroem further back. Backed up to win the G1 Futurity Stakes, outsprinting older horses from the front is beginning to dictate the stallion ranks. The Derby Winner aside, Reset (pictured) has set the turf alight in recent weeks and the Freedman trained runners are leading the charge.

3YO gelding The Noughties (Reset-This Era, by Catrail) led all-the-way to score by 5.5-lengths on debut over 1325m. The Noughties was a $260,000 yearling consigned from Twin Palms Stud at the 2007 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale and is owned in by an gregarious partnership led by John O'Neil, but supported by Les Smith, Leo Pegoli, Mal Pearce, Ros Magee, Mark Lily, Paul Clements, David Lappage and the Hung Jury Syndiate.

"I am sure the leader bias exagerated his win" said Lee Freedman "But when any first time starter beats older Maiden's by 5, you know you have an above horse. He'll head to town to get his rating up and I would expect him to take the natural progression through to a smart middle distance galloper. His attitude and action have always suggested that and its nice to have my opinion confirmed for the owners."

And 3YO filly Reconcentrate (Reset-Border Reverie, by Selkirk) also scored over 1325m. Reconcentrate was a $125,000 yearling consigned from Makybe Stud at the 2007 Inglis Premier Sale in Melbourne.

"Slade Bloodstock were always keen to syndicate this stallions stock in '07 because any sprinter - miler stallion that heads to stud with his pedigree will always produce smart gallopers. Whats more, Slade went back in 2008, off my recommendation to what I was seeing on the track and purchased another smart Reset colt from Magics." Lee Freedman declared "And from what I have seen, all this stallion's progeny have a low slung, economic action that were always going to come into their own as 3 year olds."

In addition to the aforementioned Reset winners, Freedman has also trained the following winners from the stallion's first crop:
Teraset - Reset ex. Terranora for Slade Bloodstock
Manning - Reset ex. Academic

Furthermore its just a matter of time before Hint and Rebelling make it a clean sweep for the 6 Resets trained by Freedman from the first crop of the exciting second season stallion!
