Port Isabel (pictured by Bruce Magilton) stepped up to the mark in her 1st attempt over 1600m and duly confirmed C Williams condidence.
Dropping back in class, but up in distance, the regally bred daughter of Encosta De Lago out of the talented mare Calming found plenty in the 1600m 3 year old fillies ratings 0-82 Handicap.
Saddled to carry 55.5kg and with Craig Williams on board, the Freedman's gave D Hayes's number 1 a free rein to ride her how he wanted. He duly responded and nursed her to sleep in the first half mile and trailed off last. However the moderate tempo had the field bunching on the corner and railed up sweetly to hit the front with a furlong to run to win in a time of 1-40.71.
"I knew from watching her tapes that she only had a short sprint." said Williams "But when I presented her with a rail run she quickened nicely and won easily." Craig signed off by kissing the camera !
