More toe than Fred Astaire - Dance Floor Prodigy

25th August, 2008

Dance Floor Prodigy, Okaylah and Double Reward made it back to back Friday trebles for Team Freedman at Geelong.

The first leg of the winning treble was invariably the one that got the chins wagging as the first time starter Dance Floor Prodigy chewed up the thoroughtrack from 4 back the fence with 600m to run, to win going away and under a hold. As an entire son of Redoute's Choice out of the Champion 2YO Ballroom Babe and a full brother to the McNeil Stakes winner Tahni Girl, the royal blood is clearly "dancing" through his veins and even the most pessimistic view would have to concede that he is clearly cut out for better racing.

"That was impressive" said Dwayne Dunn "He missed the kick and travelled ever so greenly through the turn. However, when he let down . . . . he let down like a real good horse. He'll only get better over a distance."

The second leg was won by Simon O'Donnel and Terry Henderson's Okaylah, dressed in the blue and gold hoops of OTI Racing. Already stakes placed at her first start in the listed Talindert Stakes to Hips Don't Lie, Okaylah shrugged her Blue Diamond and Sires Produce duck eggs aside and bullishly won her maiden.

The final leg of the treble came at the hands of the Mr Leung owned Double Reward. Already the track record holder on his first start over 1000m on the thoroughtrack, the son of Lucky Owners showed further maturity by settling 3 deep facing the breeze and responding to D Dunn's hands. He too proved far too dominant in the ratings 0-68 race to win by 2.25 lengths in a time of 58.16 (1/4 of a second outside his record).
