Moor's masterclass at Moe

15th October, 2016

If you missed Thursday's Moe Cup, do yourself a favour - go and watch the replay.

Daniel Moor's ride aboard winner Authoritarian was an absolute gem.

Had it been at the Olympics, he would have been awarded a perfect 10.

Moor went into the $150,000 race (2050m) with a game plan, and he executed it to the letter.

After jumping well from gate 10, 'Buckets' sent the Lee and Anthony Freedman-trained gelding straight to front and allowed to him bowl along, which he enjoys.

Authoritarian was cruising along under his own steam, before Moor increased the tempo at the 700m.

It was here he made a daring move.

He knew his horse was a winner over 2400m, 2500m and 2800m, and relished soft going, so he pressed the button and went for home, turning it into a genuine staying test. Authoritarian rounded the turn with a four-length break, and under Moor’s urging, kept whacking away to complete a sensational barrier to box triumph.

Quite rightly, Moor sat up for the photo as Authoritarian crossed the line.

The 32-year-old has a great association with the son of Authorized.

He’s now ridden the five-year-old to all of his five wins, and boasts a phenomenal winning strike rate of 41.6 per cent (5/12) on him.
