Dwayne Dunn and Electromotive at 33/1 !

Electromotive climbed out of a 16 month rut with an impressive first up win at Caulfield under the Freedman hoop Dwayne Dunn (photo by Quinn Ronney / Getty Images).

Jumping from barrier 6, the smartest rider of the Caulfield 1200m had Electromotive settled calmly and within touch of the tempo. When asked to go, the entire son of French Deputy and half brother to the Hong Kong Mile winner Hat Trick (by Sunday Silence) keenly raced up to grab the lead and win by a comfortable 1/2 length in a time of 1min 10sec flat.

"I had tipped him to the TVN viewers first thing this morning!" said Dwayne Dunn of his 30/1 winner. "Anyway it was a smart win for a horse that has untold problems at home and I think he can go on with it from here."

Having won Ballarat's Golden Nugget (1600m) and then the Sale Cup (1600m) in 2008, Electromotive suffered from significant knee problems following his failure in the 1800m Cup Day Plate in November 2008. Surgery and a long rehab later saw the attractive bay resume in the Spring of 2009 in good order, however the horse's luck was sadly "still out" as a spider bite to his off fore knee nearly claimed his life in September.

"There is still a bit of old swelling around the site of the bite" said Lee Freedman "However, it doesn't seem to bother him and I reckon the extra time afforded to him has been a godsend."

"Dr Walker and the team have done a great job to bring him back to where he is at now and I think we will have a nice colt to race this Autumn. His next start likely to be in the Listed 1400m at Flemington on the 6th March."
