Crystal Fountain looking to remain unbeaten

7th August, 2017

Unbeaten Stravinsky mare Crystal Fountain will kick off her four-year-old campaign at Geelong on Wednesday.

The striking chestnut was unbeaten during her summer campaign with victories coming at Werribee, Geelong and Moonee Valley.

On Wednesday, Crystal Fountain returns to Geelong to begin her spring campaign in the 1100 metre Benchmark 70 event with Mark Zahra booked to have his first ride on the mare.

“She has only had one jump out at Flemington to prepare for the race and her work on Saturday morning was right on the mark’ said Racing Manager Brad Taylor.

“With her breeding and being owned by Coolmore Stud, James Bester and Robert and Barbara McClure from Morning Rise Stud, the aim this campaign is black-type’

Meanwhile, Savvy Shields makes her debut at Pakenham on Tuesday in the Maiden Fillies & Mares 1200 metre event.

Taylor said she showed good ability winning a Flemington jump out two weeks ago.

“She showed good early speed in the jump out so we expect her to be on speed tomorrow and be competitive on debut” Taylor explained.
