Tassology and Craig Williams (pictured by Bruce Magilton) scored a lucrative double for the Freedman camp in the Two Year Old Handicap over 1400m.
With two Freedman runners under starters orders, the betting suggested that the punters were not keen to a follow an already proven formular with Craig Williams and DLF. Although still a maiden, Max Allen had her hitting the line strongly in her previous start on the polytrack over 1200 and by all accounts the camp was confident that she had trained on a treat subsequently.
Given instructions to ride her quietly, C Williams due diligence to research his form had a him trailing a faniced runner with good form and she swung into the straight three wide with cover and on a roll. Quickening like a smart filly in the making, she ran down Peter Moody's Exceed and Excel to win with a 1/2 length in hand and plenty of raised expectations. Furthermore Veewap, the son of Lonhro ran a strong fourth to suggest that this preparation was purely stepping stone to a host of better runs once he matures properly.
"She may be by the sprinting star Bel Esprit, but she is out of a 1/2 sister to Herocity who won a BMW and a WATC Derby." Said Lee Freedman "So the way she finished off her race at Geelong, coupled with her pedigree I was confident that the 1400m was never going to be a problem. I'll give her a let up in with an eye on some bigger targets in August."
